Alabama Chapter HFMA

The Alabama Chapter of HFMA continues to lead the nation in terms of excellence and innovativeness in delivering value to the members. Chapter performance will continue to depend on the hard work and dedication of its volunteers. The goal for this year’s leadership is to continue the long-standing tradition of excellence in all services provided by the Chapter with a focus on providing quality education in a redesigned format with industry recognized speakers at the quarterly Institutes, and moving the state-wide workshop education to a regional focus in hospital settings, and utilizing webinar technology to allow more convenient, economical access.

2006 - 2007



Congratulations to Dawn Walton, President, and all the Chapter officers, Board Members, Vice-Presidents and Committee Chairs for their outstanding achievements during the year.

The HFMA’s Silver Award of Excellence for Certification and the Bronze Award of Excellence for Membership Growth and Retention were presented to the Alabama Chapter in June 2007 during the 54th Annual Chapter Presidents Dinner and Meeting at HFMA’s Annual National Institute in San Diego, California. The Award of Excellence for Certification recognizes chapters that achieve outstanding performance in certification support. The honor is based on an increase in the number of chapter members who pass a certification examination in the chapter year. The Award of Excellence for Membership Growth and Retention recognizes chapters that achieve outstanding performance in membership growth and retention. The honor is based on the percent of net membership growth at the end of the chapter year.

The Alabama Chapter went on to receive five Helen M. Yerger Special Recognition Awards which recognizes chapters for outstanding performance achieved by excellent efforts in programs, services, and administration.

HFMA President and CEO, Richard L. Clarke, says, “The Alabama Chapter provides a great example for HFMA’s 2007-08 Chairman’s theme —Make a Difference. So many of their members are actively involved…contributing, sharing, and making a difference. Everyone applauds their family spirit, which shines through their many accomplishments. ”
