“Make a Difference”

Dear Fellow HFMA Alabama Chapter Members:

It is my pleasure and honor to serve as your chapter president for the 2008-09 year. A lot of thought and planning has been put in to the activities of this year in order to serve you in a manner that challenges you in both your professional and personal life. The national theme of “Making Connections” selected by our national chairperson Bob Broadway, emphasizes that the connections we make through HFMA can last a lifetime.

The Alabama Chapter of HFMA will commemorate its 50 th anniversary in 2009. The Alabama Chapter began organizing service to its membership in 1958 with only a handful of people. Since 1959 membership has grown from only 16 to almost 600. Throughout its history, the Alabama Chapter has informed and educated its membership about healthcare changes and challenges industry wide. The chapter has established a precedent of excellence and service which has made it one of the most respected chapters in HFMA.

I encourage each of you to become actively involved in our chapter. The more we work as a team, the stronger our chapter will become. By attending meetings, volunteering to speak, and working in a chapter leadership role, you will achieve the full benefits that HFMA has to offer. We have some excellent opportunities for you to serve in areas that will hopefully spark your interest and create a challenge to stretch yourself professionally.

I would like to thank each of you for your continued support of the Alabama Chapter of HFMA. If not for our sponsors and members, the Chapter would not have attained the long history of success and be known as one of the premier chapters of HFMA in the country. Thank you for your continued support and involvement.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President. As each president in the past has stated, I too welcome your comments and suggestions during the year as we strive to improve our Chapter and continue our long history of success.
